Episode 3: Doing Better
“But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.” James 1:22–25
“The person who trusts me will not only do what I’m doing but even greater things, because I, on my way to the Father, am giving you the same work to do that I’ve been doing.” John 14:11–12
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
Four Things We Must Do Better
- Feel better.
“But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.” Matthew 9:36
- Go better.
“Go to the lost, confused people right here in the neighborhood. Tell them that the kingdom is here. Bring health to the sick. Raise the dead. Touch the untouchables. Kick out the demons.” Matthew 10:5–7
“And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.” Mark 16:15
- Give better.
“You have been treated generously, so live generously.” Matthew 10:8
“If someone takes unfair advantage of you, use the occasion to practice the servant life. No more tit-for-tat stuff. Live generously.” Luke 6:30
“…Live out this God-created identity the way our Father lives toward us, generously and graciously, even when we’re at our worst.” Luke 6:35
Love better.
“This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:12–13

Episode 2: Think Better
“A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy. I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.” John 10:10
How To Think Better
- Feed my mind with the truth .
“People need more than bread for their life; they must feed on every word of God.” Matthew 4:4
“I rise early, before the sun is up; I cry out for help and put my hope in your words. I stay awake through the night, thinking about your promise.” Psalm 119:147–148
“Lord, how I love your Word. I think about it all day long.” Psalm 119:97 - Free my mind from destructive thoughts .
“Though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. Our weapons have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish any argument and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 - Focus my mind on the promises of God .
“Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse.” Philippians 4:8
“Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are upon the earth.” Colossians 3:2

Episode 1: Better Than Last Year
“A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy. I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.” John 10:10
- Grow from the pain of last year.
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Romans 8:28 - Purpose each moment for this year.
“All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. So I run with purpose in every step…” 1 Corinthians 9:25–26 - Thank God through every year.
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18
