Episode 4: Mindset Of FORGIVENess

 "You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are set on you, because they trust in you." Isaiah 26:3



Unforgiveness will rob you of your peace.

"Then Peter came to him and asked, 'Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?' 'No, not seven times,' Jesus replied, 'but seventy times seven!'" Matthew 18:21-22 (NLT)


Three Steps For Reclaiming Your Peace:

 1.  Accept God's forgiveness and grace.

"When Jesus had tasted it he said, 'It is finished!' Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit." John 19:30 (NLT)

"God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago." Ephesians 2:8-10 (NLT)

Discussion: Do you struggle with accepting God's mercy and grace? Do you think you can "unearn" it? Spend some time in prayer and thank the Lord for his unfailing mercy and grace!


 2.  Forgive those who have hurt you. 

"Stop being angry! Turn from your rage! Do not lose your temper—it only leads to harm." Psalm 37:8

"Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone." Romans 12:17-21 (NLT)

Discussion: Make a list of people who have harmed you. Offer forgiveness to these people and unburden yourself.


 3.  Forgive yourself.

"Come, let's talk this over, says the Lord; no matter how deep the stain of your sins, I can take it out and make you as clean as freshly fallen snow. Even if you are stained as red as crimson, I can make you white as wool! If you will only let me help you." Isaiah 1:18-19 (TLB)

"Jesus replied, 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. The second most important is similar: 'Love your neighbor as much as you love yourself." Matthew 22:36-40 (TLB)

Discussion: Do you struggle with not being able to forgive yourself? Pray to the Lord and unburden yourself.





Episode 3: Mindset Of Contentment

"I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want." Philippians 4:12 


Effects Of Never Having Enough:

•  Dissatisfaction

"Those who love money will never have enough. How meaningless to think that wealth brings true happiness!" Ecclesiastes 5:10

•  Conflict

"The more you have, the more people come to help you spend it…" Ecclesiastes 5:11

"For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil…" 1 Timothy 6:10

•  Worry

"People who work hard sleep well, whether they eat little or much. But the rich seldom get a good night’s sleep." Ecclesiastes 5:12

•  Fatigue

"Don’t wear yourself out trying to get rich. Be wise enough to know when to quit." Proverbs 23:4


Discussion: 


How To Find Contentment:

 1.  Be grateful for what I have.

"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Discussion: Write down 5 things you are thankful for and share them with someone.


 2.  Be generous with what I have. 

"Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life." 1 Timothy 6:17-19

Discussion: Think about or share a time when someone was generous to you and how it impacted you.

 3.  Be godly about what I have.    

"But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it." 1 Timothy 6:6-7

"God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice , for they will be satisfied." Matthew 5:6

Discussion: What are some things that get in the way of your relationship with God?





Episode 2: Mindset To Pray

"You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are set on you, because they trust in you." Isaiah 26:3

"Then, teaching them more about prayer, he used this story: 'Suppose you went to a friend's house at midnight, wanting to borrow three loaves of bread. You say to him, 'A friend of mine has just arrived for a visit, and I have nothing for him to eat.' And suppose he calls out from his bedroom, 'Don't bother me. The door is locked for the night, and my family and I are all in bed. I can't help you.' But I tell you this—though he won't do it for friendship's sake, if you keep knocking long enough, he will get up and give you whatever you need because of your shameless persistence. 'And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. You fathers—if your children ask for a fish, do you give them a snake instead? Or if they ask for an egg, do you give them a scorpion? Of course not! So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.'" Luke 11:5-13


How Jesus Says We Should Pray:

 1.  Pray shamelessly.

"So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most." Hebrews 4:14-16

Discussion: What are some bold prayers you need to be praying?


2.  Pray persistently.

"Never stop praying." 1 Thessalonians 5:17

"One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up. 'There was a judge in a certain city,' he said, 'who neither feared God nor cared about people. A widow of that city came to him repeatedly, saying, 'Give me justice in this dispute with my enemy.' The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said to himself, 'I don't fear God or care about people, but this woman is driving me crazy. I'm going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!'" Luke 18:1-5

Discussion: What are the things that keep you from praying persistently? How can you push back on those things?


3.  Pray as a child of God.

"For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, 'Abba, Father. The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God." Romans 8:15-16

"Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect." Romans 12:2


3 Daily Choices I Must Make To Control My Mind:

 1.  I must feed my mind with truth.

"People need more than bread for their life; they must feed on every word of God." Matthew 4:4

"I rise early, before the sun is up; I cry out for help and put my hope and put my hope in your words. I stay awake through the night, thinking about your promise." Psalm 119:147-148

"Lord, how I love your Word. I think about it all day long." Psalm 119:97

Discussion: Think of your favorite verses in the Bible or songs that fill your mind with truth.


2.  I must free my mind from destructive thoughts.

"Though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. Our weapons have divine power to demolish STRONGHOLDS. We demolish any argument and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

Discussion: Think of the destructive thoughts you have and how you can use God's word to help you overcome them.


3.  I must focus my mind on the right things.

"Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are upon the earth." Colossians 3:2

Discussion: Make some purposeful time to focus on the right things.


"No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him." 1 Corinthians 2:9
